VOIP
What is Voice-Over-IP (VoIP)?
Voice over IP (also called VoIP, IP Telephony, and Internet telephony)
is the routing of voice conversations over the internet or any other IP
based network. Voice information is sent in the form of digital packets
rather than the traditional circuit-switching protocol of the public
switched telephone network (PSTN). By routing the data through the
internet, local toll charges can be avoided and costly long distance
tolls can be drastically reduced.

Simplified Infrastructure
Because VoIP works by transmitting voice over the internet,
the need for a separate telephone infrastructure is eliminated.
Your voice and data can now share the same medium reducing the
amount of cabling needed.
Mobility
With VoIP your phone number can now follow you wherever you go.
Unlike a traditional phone line which is limited to a fixed physical
location, you can instantly connect to your VoIP account anywhere
you have access to a broadband connection.
Scalability
The capacity of a traditional PBX system is typically limited by the
hardware. Growing companies can quickly outgrow their existing system
forcing them to scrap their current hardware and purchase new equipment
or invest in costly upgrades. With a hosted VoIP solution these
problems are now eliminated since new features can easily be added
remotely without any disruption to the end-user or the need for new
hardware.
Lowered Operating Costs
Because a VoIP exchanged is based on software rather than hardware it
is easier to alter and maintain. The need for an on-site technician
and hardware maintenance is now eliminated.
Low distance rates will also be drastically reduced by bypassing the
tolls of your local telephone provider. Your call will be directly
connected to a termination point closer your call destination via the
internet.
Productivity
Using any computer browser, users can now manage and optimize their
communications with ease. Users will be able to tailor their
communication to what suites their needs best. They will also be able
to share voice, data and video on the same converged platform making
the exchange of ideas and information much more efficient.
